THE MIDDLE EAST

The Empty Quarter hosts the world's largest sand desert, spanning the middle eastern countries of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman and the UAE.

The magnificent sunrise is actually a man made lake called Al Qudra located in the desert plains of the UAE and is home to more than 100 species of migratory birds including the reclusive flamingo.

The last three images are taken from the Wadi Rum desert, a 3 to 4 hour's drive south of Amman, Jordan.  Indeed, these Martian-like scapes of sandstone and granite outcrops have been the backdrop for many science fiction films in recent times.
